Name: Kanaria
Series: Rozen Maiden
History: Kanaria was the second Rozen Maiden doll to be made and the first one to be completed. It is unknown when exactly Rozen created the Rozen Maiden series (consisting of Suigintou, Kanaria, Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, Shinku, Hinaichigo, and Kirakishou), but Kanaria can be assumed to be at least 200 years old, as her first mention is in the 19th century. It is not known if she made a contract with a medium during that time, but she is assumed to have gone back to sleep in her case after Laplace broke up Shinku and Suigintou's fight on account of that era's Alice Game being called off (because Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, and Shinku all canceled their contracts with their mediums).

Kanaria probably found Mitsu (her medium) before Suigintou's defeat at the hands of Shinku and Jun (Shinku's medium), but it is not known exactly when or how this occurred. She does not appear with Shinku's group at Jun's house until after Suigintou is defeated. Over a long period of time, Kanaria makes hundreds of attempts to infiltrate the Sakurada household in order to defeat her sisters in the Alice Game, but fails each time, usually under humorous circumstances. She is not taken seriously by her sisters, except for a brief period where she nearly destroyed the Sakurada home. However, she is stopped by Shinku, who simply slaps her and forces her to repair the damage. After that incident, she becomes more familiar with Shinku's group (consisting of all the dolls except Suigintou, who was repaired and revived somehow, and Barasuishou, the false 7th doll).

Kanaria is initially not present when the catalyst for the end of the Alice Game occurs. Souseiseki stops going to the Sakurada household despite Suiseiseki's (Souseiseki's older twin) protests, beginning the Alice Game in earnest. She is challenged by Suigintou and Barasuishou; Shinku, Suiseiseki, and Hinaichigo discover this and travel out to stop them. Shortly after declaring to Suiseiseki her willingness to take her Rosa Mystica, she enters into a final engagement with Suigintou, who ends up the victor, taking her Rosa Mystica and leaving Suiseiseki her twin's lifeless body. (After this, Suigintou declares to Barasuishou that she will not be allied with her.) The day after Souseiseki's "death", Hinaichigo shows signs that she is going to stop moving soon (she was defeated by Shinku long ago, but instead of taking her Rosa Mystica, Shinku allowed her to channel Jun's power indirectly through her). She is allowed to spend her last day with her former medium, Tomoe.

After Hinaichigo stops moving, Shinku and Suiseiseki prepare to go face off against Suigintou and Barasuishou. Kanaria is set to go as well, because she knows the Alice Game cannot truly play out unless she is present as well, but her younger sisters revert to not taking her seriously and tell her to stay home (they are more interested in ending the Game rather than winning it). However, she follows behind her sisters and Jun anyway, and is told to just flee if things become too dangerous. For a while, she goes undetected; this lasts until she begins to attack ineffectively with her violin. Suigintou sends her a blast of feathers to silence her and turns back to her opponent; SUiseiseki raises a plant to shield Kanaria and tells her to flee again. However, she attracts the greater attention of Barasuishou; she is about to be hit by her crystal attack, but Suiseiseki saves her from the shot and restrains Barasuishou with her power. She grows a giant plant to provide Kanaria with an escape route, which she begins to take. After a bit, though, she feels she needs to go back and protect Suiseiseki from Barasuishou, in return.

Kanaria returns to the ground, and Barasuishou goes after her, for the kill. However, Suiseiseki takes the shot for her and becomes encased in crystal; her Rosa Mystica is exposed. Before Barasuishou can take it, though, Kanaria gets it first. After that, she attacked Barasuishou with a whirlwind created by her violin, in the effort to protect Suiseiseki's Rosa Mystica. Though she succeeds in ripping Barasuishou's right arm off, her left arm is still good, and she runs Kanaria through with a crystal sword, stealing both her Rosa Mystica and Suiseiseki's Rosa Mystica.

After Barasuishou is destroyed (she was unable to handle the power of 6 Rosa Mystica because she was not the 7th Rozen Maiden; she was a false 7th doll created by Rozen's jealous apprentice, Enju), Rozen revives all of the other 6 dolls except for Souseiseki and Hinaichigo (because they were defeated by legitimate Rozen Maiden), and except for that, everything returns to how it was before Barasuishou's arrival.
